THQ’s Danny Bilson told CVG that Saints Row 3 will try to further set the series apart from Grand Theft Auto.
“We don’t compete with GTA. We’re differentiating even further with GTA with this one. The new Saint’s Row will be less urban – it’s definitely not about ‘gangsta’ anymore at all. And it’s more fun and almost sillier and wackier and weirder than the other one.
I love GTA – especially the last one, which knocked my socks off. That’s almost like a Martin Scorsese cartoon, right? We are more like the Mad Magazine version of that or something. It’s colourful, it’s wild, it’s fun.”
I am looking forward to this. Saints row 2 is all I ever play. I hope the third one I can still create my characters and maybe name them this time around. Or create my own gang.
I dont like the fact that they are shying away from the gangster ways, Saints Row was built on the urban storyline and thuglife vision it portrayed, If they must take the game out of the hood I hope they can at least leave some hood in the game!!!

I think this is a good thing. saints row 2 was nothing like GTA. GTA is going for the gritty stuff, while saints row is going for the “let’s blow the crap out of things just because.” it only had that gangsta element to try and be like GTA, which it isn’t. this game is gonna be fun.

If you want a gritty, realisitc urban free roam type game, play GTA. The gangster element, which kinda cool although sometimes alittle annoying, isn’t the reason it boomed the reason it boomed is cause it’s fun and crazy and over the top. I’m looking forward to it. If you want a realisitc gritty game about gangs play san andreas. saint row 2 is awesome and 3 looks to be even more so.

The reason why SR3 game is less urban because previous game, Dane Vogel’s goal is get rid all the gang and fix the place, etc..After Dane dead, Dex already taken over the Ultor as president, then the Ultor still doing the job to change the place, made less urban, so they wipe all the gangs, destoryed the old building, made new one, and all gang member probably died or in jail or left out..I think that why SR3 going to be less urban.
I really love SR1 & SR2 cause they are like only games what have like hoods, gangs and are not mean to be realistic like some gta iv… If they will not let us to make our gang, be to boss and so.. GAME IS ALL ABOUT GANGS, HOODS and that kinda stuff. **** you developers!
i was a huge fan of the gta series (starting with the demo of the original)up until IV. disappointment made me try out the original saints row and i NEVER looked back. SAINTS ROW, BITCHES!

i hope they will keep some of da gangs and hoods in it cuz if it has 2 much skyscrapers and office buildings ull feel like ur in the same place every time u turn a corner, they should still have gang turf’s and hoods so if most corners u turn ull see different buildins and people doin different stuff and listenin 2 different music, they should keep gangs in it but not base da whole campaign around gangs and another reason 2 keep gangs in it is that ull feel like ur in a real city with real places and types of people who act differently 2 wat u do
I think they should make it more military like and have tanks and airplanes that drop bombs. In sr2 theres helmets and paintball masks, but they should be able to make it all military (like as a custom choice)
If they really do take the gangsta thug life out of saints row 3, then volition inc better back it up with something better, like turning the saints gang into a big saints mafia, now that’ll be killa!
its an series that its what its based on. i haven’t been playing saints row that long. it was recommanded by my youtube pg. so i start playing with it, watching vids.

i like to compare this less urban concept to the storyline of gta4. when you start off in gta4 your just some immigrant doing small just for petty cash. then you start doing jobs for the mafia and climbing up ladder, so to speak. so being less urban and gangsta could just mean more organized.
Guys. Just read the whole article from gameinformer, it moves to an entirely new town called Steelport, which is a gritty down on its luck kinda place. There are still gangs, and then a 4th Govt agency that comes in later. I mean hell one of your allies is a pimp that looks like Slickback from the Boondocks. Gangster is still there, just as a more loosely defined term than anything.
if you could choose your gang colour and when buying clothes you can make your own design, that wud be sik. i dont really care if its less gangstary cos as long as the free roam is just as good and theres good cars im def getting it.
it still gonna have gangstars just not as much. i dont really care about that as long as the free roam is just as good. it shud have:
-Make your own clothing designs and brands
-Choose your gang colour
-More cheats (like superjump)
-More DLCs
-Co-op to have up to 8 players
-Online free roam (choose a server and meet people online)
-And keep the pimp slap weapon
